Yey to Good Works (plus Giveaway #1)

I'm super happy for Kelly Dempsey, an incredible designer from Boston. She's totally my bet to win Project Runway Season 14.

Even though, like Nina Garcia, I was also skeptical about her capabilities and fashion sense before. My wrong judgment based on first impression, ugh!  Yet she was surprisingly transforming like a caterpillar to a butterfly in every challenge. She amazed me! I find her journey in this contest inspiring and amusing.

I'm excited to see her Finale collection in the New York Fashion Week. I expect to see more from her. I know she can push herself further. I like her style: edgy, cool and out of the box. Plus, it’s evident that she puts her best in everything she does and so she deserves to win!

Most importantly, I admire her good character and work attitude. She's very humble; competitive yet a good sport. And throughout the whole season, I cannot remember her talking ugly about her fellow designers. She's critical yet fair enough.

I know that every designer has a unique perspective and gift of creativity but one struggles if ever he/she lets her be eaten by fear or insecurities.
"This is a designer who works hard and works smart." ~ Tim Gunn’s comment on Kelly, PR’s Season 14 Episode 12.
I pray for the best for Kelly. Win or lose – I believe she'll get more and more clients and fans. At the end of the day, people will love you because of your good heart and passion on your work.

I can also relate the first-ever piece I wrote for RightNow.ph: Online Tambayan ng Mga Kabataan where I gave some Tips for Freshies at Work.

I'm working in fashion retail industry for some years now. I was privileged to try various fields of work and worked with mix of people. I had days of success, failure, doubt, fear, hope, joy and losing myself in the process but my God is so gracious to hold my heart all along and let me be back on track.

Whatever we will accomplish in the future, we will never go wrong with our right values and hard work. It's also an advantage to take the extra mile to continuous learning and improving your craft. This is loving what you’re doing - called passion. Your passion will then fire up the outcome of your work.

And these are what I've also learned from Kelly's journey in Project Runway.

Today, I recommend the books of OMF Literature's Author Yay Padua-Olmedo: Going Up? and Now that You're Boss. I’ve already read both books and I must say that all the featured stories, advice and encouragements are absolutely beneficial to (new and longtime) employees, bosses (of a company or your own) and students who wants to explore and prepare before going to the "real world".

All of us will encounter more challenges as long as we live and fight for our hopes and dreams. And now is the time to give our best in everything we do. Choose to “be a blessing in the workplace today” as reminded Ms Maloi Salumbides over and over again for sooner or later, you’ll receive the reward for your hard work.
